ESG Statement
Last updated: May 2026
American Fire Safety Supply LLC (AMFSS) is a small US-based industrial distributor. We don't have a sustainability department or a corporate social responsibility budget — we're a working business, operated by people who care about doing things right. This statement describes what we actually do, not what sounds impressive. We'd rather be honest about our scope than overstate it.
Environmental
Product Safety is Our Core Business
The products we distribute — firestop sealants, intumescent systems, cable penetration seals, and marine fire protection products — are designed to save lives and contain fire. Every product we carry is selected for code compliance and performance. Selling products that don't work isn't an option in this industry, and we take that responsibility seriously.
Manufacturer Compliance
We source from manufacturers whose products carry third-party certifications from recognized bodies including UL (Underwriters Laboratories), FM Approvals, and equivalent international standards. We do not carry uncertified firestop products. Manufacturers we work with — including NOFIRNO, BEELE Engineering, All American Semiconductor (where applicable), Red Man products, and others — maintain their own environmental and compliance programs. We expect our suppliers to comply with applicable environmental regulations in their country of manufacture.
Packaging and Shipping
We use appropriately sized packaging to minimize void fill and cardboard waste. We reuse packing materials where safe and practical. We consolidate shipments where possible to reduce per-unit freight emissions. We do not currently offset carbon from shipping, and we won't claim to until we have a credible, verified program in place.
Hazardous Materials Handling
Some products we ship are classified as hazardous materials under DOT regulations. We comply with all applicable DOT hazmat shipping requirements, including proper labeling, packaging, and documentation. We take this compliance seriously — not just because it's required, but because improper hazmat handling creates real environmental and safety risks.
Social
Fair Employment Practices
We are a small company. We treat our employees fairly, pay at or above market rates for our region and roles, and comply with all applicable federal and state labor laws. We do not use forced labor or child labor, and we expect the same of our suppliers.
Community and Trade Relationships
AMFSS participates in trade shows and industry events in the firestop and marine safety sectors. We maintain working relationships with firestop engineers, contractors, and installers who rely on accurate product information and reliable supply. We consider it part of our job to give honest product guidance — including when a product is not the right fit for a job.
Product Integrity and Safety Information
We provide Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and technical documentation for all applicable products. We do not misrepresent product capabilities. We refer customers to qualified firestop engineers or the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) when a project requires professional evaluation.
Customer Service
We serve both contractors and end users. We respond to inquiries honestly and promptly. We don't use high-pressure sales tactics or mislead customers about lead times, availability, or product fitness.
Governance
Ownership and Accountability
AMFSS is an owner-operated small business. Decisions are made by the owners, who are directly accountable for business conduct. There is no board, no investor layer, and no diffusion of responsibility. If something goes wrong, it falls on us to fix it.
Ethical Sourcing
We source from established manufacturers with reputations built on product quality and regulatory compliance. We do not purchase counterfeit products, and we do not knowingly misrepresent the origin or certification status of any product. If a product's certification lapses or is found to be invalid, we will not sell it.
Legal and Regulatory Compliance
We comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws including DOT hazmat regulations, sales tax requirements, consumer protection laws, and import/export regulations. We maintain records adequate to demonstrate compliance.
No Greenwashing
We've deliberately kept this statement short and factual. We don't have a net-zero commitment, a supplier audit program, or a sustainability report. We're a small distributor, and making claims we can't back up would be dishonest. Our commitment is to do our actual job well: put compliant, certified, life-safety products in the hands of people who need them, operate fairly, and be straightforward about what we are.
