Legal Disclaimer
Last updated: May 2026
Please read this disclaimer carefully before relying on product information, specifications, or guidance provided on buyfirestop.com or amfss.com, or before purchasing and installing any product sold by American Fire Safety Supply LLC ("AMFSS").
1. Product Information and Specifications
We make reasonable efforts to keep product descriptions, specifications, dimensions, and compatibility information accurate and current. However, manufacturer data sheets, installation instructions, and system listings are the authoritative source of technical information. Product details on this site may lag behind manufacturer updates. Always obtain and review the current manufacturer data sheet, SDS, and any applicable UL or FM system listing before specifying, purchasing, or installing a product.
If there is a conflict between information on this site and a manufacturer's current published documentation, the manufacturer's documentation governs.
2. No Warranty of Fitness for a Specific Application
Firestop, fire protection, and life-safety products must be selected, specified, and installed in accordance with:
- The applicable building code (IBC, NFPA, local amendments);
- The specific UL, FM, or other third-party system listing for the assembly being protected;
- The requirements of the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ); and
- Manufacturer installation instructions.
AMFSS does not warrant that any product listed on this site is suitable for your specific application, penetration type, substrate, wall or floor assembly, annular space, or code requirement. It is the responsibility of the specifier, engineer of record, contractor, and/or installer to verify that the selected product and system listing are appropriate for the specific condition being firestopped or protected.
When in doubt, consult a qualified firestop engineer, a manufacturer's technical representative, or your local AHJ before purchasing or installing.
3. Professional Installation
Firestop and fire protection products are life-safety systems. Improper installation can render a system non-compliant and create serious risk of harm. We strongly recommend that firestop products be installed by contractors who are trained and, where applicable, certified (e.g., AWCI firestop certification, manufacturer-specific training programs). Product instructions must be followed exactly. Do not substitute products within a listed system without verifying the substitution is acceptable under the applicable listing and to the AHJ.
4. Limitation of Liability for Misapplication
AMFSS is a distributor. We do not design, engineer, or install firestop systems. We are not responsible for product selection errors, improper installation, or application of a product outside its listed system parameters. To the fullest extent permitted by law, AMFSS disclaims all liability for damages — including property damage, personal injury, regulatory penalties, or any other loss — arising from the misapplication, improper installation, or misuse of products sold on this site.
Our liability, where it cannot be excluded by law, is limited to the purchase price of the specific product giving rise to the claim. See also the Limitation of Liability section in our Terms of Service.
5. Pricing and Availability
Prices, lead times, and product availability are subject to change without notice. Published prices do not constitute a binding offer until an order is confirmed. We reserve the right to correct pricing errors. For large orders or ongoing supply requirements, contact us for a formal quote.
6. Product Images
Product images are provided for general identification purposes only. Actual products may differ in appearance, color, labeling, or packaging from the images shown. Images do not indicate scale or dimensional accuracy unless stated. Rely on specifications and data sheets, not images, for technical details.
7. Third-Party Links and Resources
This site may contain links to manufacturer websites, code resources, and other third-party content. These links are provided for convenience. AMFSS does not control third-party sites and is not responsible for their accuracy, content, or availability. Inclusion of a link does not constitute endorsement.
Manufacturer technical data sheets, system listings, and SDS documents linked from this site are the property of their respective manufacturers. AMFSS is not responsible for changes made to those documents after they are published by the manufacturer.
8. No Engineering or Code Advice
Nothing on this site constitutes engineering advice, architectural advice, or code compliance determination. Product descriptions, application notes, and compatibility guides are provided as general information only. They do not replace the judgment of a licensed engineer, the review of a qualified firestop inspector, or a determination by the authority having jurisdiction. Project-specific compliance determinations must be made by qualified professionals with knowledge of the specific conditions, codes, and jurisdictional requirements involved.
9. SDS and Hazardous Material Information
Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are available for all applicable products and must be reviewed before use. Handling, storage, and disposal of chemical products must comply with all applicable OSHA, EPA, and local regulations. AMFSS provides SDS documents as a service; it is the end user's responsibility to ensure compliance with all applicable safety requirements.
